Friend or Enemy?
A calling station is a friend at the poker table and its still an understatement because this type of poker personality is the dream opponent of most players. They always play their hands without thinking about the results and they are pretty welcoming, a trait that is preferred for someone whos willing to hand their money at ease.
They take part in poker but seem like that they are allergic to money. They like to give away their money in the game in exchange of nothing. If youre not experience in the game you may think that they are trying to lose purposely.
Selectivity and Aggression
The name says it all Calling Station. They are keen to play each hand they get without being aggressive unless they have the nuts. Some of their lot will do anything to make the playing atmosphere fun and friendly.
They are also quiet the positive type, they only see the potential and will seldom see the outcomes. Almost all calling stations are playing just for fun; to them the money they will spend is like what they spend during senseless shopping and eating a t a very luxurious restaurant.
Provided that they will get the fun and entertainment they need, the calling station wont mind in giving out their money.
Predictability
This kind of poker personality is extremely predictable. Once in a while they are going to make unconventional moves but it is most of the time for the benefit of their opponents.
Poker IQ
Calling stations has a poker IQ of zilch but they are not stupid or dont want to learn poker because they care less. They think that playing high-quality poker is dreary so they dont want anything to do with it due to the fact that they only want to have fun and winning is just an icing in the cake.
Stations play all their hands, they think that betting and re-raising are the same and they also assume that a gun-shot is an excellent draw.
They are the ideal opponent because they are extremely profitable when they are on the table. However, a table full of calling stations is not advisable.
Adjustments
One way to deal with a calling station is to make them happy and be firm that the others will treat him/her the same way. The BOOKWORM type can be such a pain so better not to have them with a station in the same place.
Calling stations play well in general but they just dont care. But if they are challenge or something they might end up showing you the best thing he knows.
Just relax when you come to face to face with a calling station. Just make small bets and let fate decides when you win.
