As much as there are a lot of talent agencies that you can choose from if you want to be an actor or a model, there are also a lot of scammers out there. Therefore, it is important for you to know if the talent agent that you are dealing with is legitimate or not.

First of all, you should not be blinded by any so-called talent agent that promises to give you a gig and then try to take your money. Use your head and don’t trust these people immediately, especially if they are not giving any proof as to their legitimacy.

For example, there are talent agencies that charge upfront fees. Remember that legitimate talent agencies never charge with upfront fees for representation. They will ask you to pay them in exchange for putting up your pictures on an agency website, when in fact, this is not the way of legitimate talent agencies.

You should also not trust people who claim to be a talent scout or talent agent, especially if they just spotted you on the streets and told you that they can make you a model or an actor and help you earn lots of money. More often than not, these fake talent agents will only let you register for a faux talent company that will eventually cost you hundreds of dollars.

Fake talent agents also use flattery to their advantage. They will often tell you about how you are meant to be an actor, and how their connections to different talent agencies can help you in your dream. They will even give you names of people that they have made popular, although you can never be sure of their claims. Don’t be fooled by these people who try to sweet-talk you into entering their so-called talent agency.

The bottom line is, you should not trust any talent agent that charges you a huge amount of money even before absorbing you as part of that talent agency. Getting your television dreams come true does not mean that you have to pay a huge amount for it. Always be careful where money is involved.
